SCADA Engineering Manager (m/f/d) – Utility Scale PV & BESS

Saarbrücken
Full-time
Permanent employee

Overview

As SCADA Engineering Manager, you take technical ownership of SCADA, monitoring, plant control and communication systems for our utility-scale PV and BESS projects. You act as the central technical interface between engineering, project teams, customers, grid operators and external suppliers such as Gantner or meteocontrol — ensuring these systems are correctly specified, integrated, tested and commissioned.

This role combines strong technical understanding with coordination and stakeholder management: you translate between grid operator requirements, customer expectations, supplier solutions and EPC project realities.
Most importantly, when a plant reaches commissioning, you ensure SCADA, PPC and communication systems work reliably — rather than becoming the project's last unresolved interface.

Your mission

  • Technical ownership of SCADA, monitoring, plant control and communication systems
  • Supplier management — coordinating SCADA/PPC providers (e.g. Gantner, meteocontrol) and holding them accountable for correct specification, integration and delivery
  • Acting as the central technical interface between engineering, project teams, customers, grid operators and suppliers
  • Testing & commissioning oversight for SCADA, PPC and communication systems
  • Engineering & project coordination across the full plant lifecycle

Your profile

  • Degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, control engineering, mechatronics, computer engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
  • Several years of professional experience in SCADA, industrial automation, power plant control, renewable energy, or grid integration
  • Experience with utility-scale PV, BESS, substations, or other power generation assets highly desirable
  • Good understanding of SCADA architectures, industrial communication networks, and plant control systems
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, OPC UA or comparable
  • Understanding of active power, reactive power, voltage and grid control concepts is an advantage
  • Experience working with grid operators, utilities, or grid compliance requirements highly desirable
  • Proven track record coordinating external technical suppliers and managing complex system interfaces
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across hardware, software and communication systems
  • Confident communicator with engineers, customers, suppliers and grid operators
  • Structured working style and a strong ownership mentality — you drive technical topics until resolved
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites, suppliers or customers
  • Driving licence category B
  • Fluent English; German language skills strongly preferred
  • A responsible, proactive and solution-oriented approach to work, with the ability to apply professional expertise effectively in day-to-day activities
  • A commitment to respectful, trusting collaboration and mutual support within the team

About us

Greencells doesn’t just build solar plants — we help shape Europe’s energy future. With conviction, responsibility, and strong teams.

With more than 190 completed projects and over 4.1  GWp of installed capacity, we are one of Europe’s leading EPC and O&M providers for utility-scale solar power. We provide engineering, construction and technical O&M services for grid-connected PV plants in Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania and Hungary – efficiently, reliably, and always looking ahead.

What drives us:
We build clean energy solutions for a better tomorrow.

It’s not just a line – it’s what we stand for.

And how we work reflects that: We take ownership. We listen, think ahead and act with purpose. We stay pragmatic when things get complex. And we’ve got each other’s backs when it matters. For us, quality isn’t a commitment – it’s a mindset.

Whether you manage projects, design systems, balance books or shape communications – you’ll find freedom here, not rigid structures. Your ideas matter. Your initiative is welcome. And your impact is tangible – in results, in teams, in the energy transition.

At Greencells, you’ll work in intercultural, interdisciplinary teams – with flat hierarchies, real ownership and the chance to make your mark. Flexible working models, mutual trust and opportunities to grow are just as much a part of our culture as the shared ambition to move forward – professionally and personally.

If that sounds like the kind of place you’re looking for – we’d love to get to know you.
